I just purchased a S&W 32. The serial number is 952xx. The gun is in rough shape and want to know if it worth restoring. I would also like to know the manufacture date.

32 Hand Ejector, 2ND change 1906-1909, Restore or refinish? To restore it means you are going to bring it back to the same condition it was in when it left the factory. To restore it will probably cost several hundred dollars. to refinish it means you are just going to polish it and re blue or re-plate it. There are those who say to refinish an old gun is sacrilegious, There are also those ( which include myself ) that feel that to bring a rusted piece of junk back to life is OK. You will receive strong opinions from both sides of the fence.:)

That's a good gun you have there. From your photos the grips look real nice and your gun appears to have close to around 85% nickel finish from what I can tell. That finish compared to blue doesn't look as pleasant to the eye, but that's the way nickel is and what's remaining is considerable. If everything's original and has a decent bore, if it functions well then value should be around $400. That gun will increase in value if left alone. If you want it to look new then buy something new. Try finding a nice vintage holster for it, cause if you go to sell it that will increase the value along with a letterfrom Roy Jinks at S&W.
