Need help buying second house gun (long)

My wife and I spent the last two days attending a self defense course in OH, which we both greatly enjoyed. Unfortuneately, while preparing to attend the course, it became clear my wife could not operate the slide on our Makarov and had to use my P95.

She did well with the P95 (and claimed it as her own) and while the Mak functioned reliably and accurately when I used it, it became clear this was not the type of weapon that I would want to use in a self defense mode.

I could get another P95 but would like some suggestions on alternatives with the following criteria:

-About the same size and weight of the P95
-Cost under $400
-Reliable, accurate and easy to field strip
-Resonably priced std. cap mags

Any suggestions on this topice would be greatly appreciated.

That's a perfect desctiption of a P95. If you like the P95, why don't you just get another one.

I'll second the second P95. Interchangeable mags are always nice. You can always get a PC-9 later too.
 
MikeM; Rugers are the best value on the market today. How about a P-94- 40 cal, 10 shot mags, approx same size and weight. Or the P-97, 45 cal, almost same size and weight. Best Regards, J. Parker
 
Well, I may get another P95 but wanted to be sure that I considered all the options. How about the CZ line or EAA?
 
Consider a CZ75B, they also come with decockers if you don't want to deal with manually dropping the hammer. They're very reliable, well made and can be had for under $400 with one preban and one postban mag. I like the DA/SA pulls better on CZs than on Rugers.
