I recently bought 2 1875 Remington replicas by Hartford Armory.
One of them now will not hold full cock, the hammer is not going all the way back. Also will not hold at half cock, I had to hold it in position to verify the gun empty.
I need a gunsmith who knows something about 1875s, these were almost exact copies of the originals.
Hartford Armory has been out of business since 2006, so no factory parts available.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like the sear nose (part of the trigger on this gun) is not moving into position or isn't engaging if it is (the nose broken off, for example). Broken spring or broken sear nose are what I would look for first. Could be the hammer hooks, but that would mean both the full-cock and half-cock hooks broke at once, which seems unlikely.

Dear Forum, Problem solved:o
The cylinder base pin was about 3/8" out of locked in place.
I'll claim ignorance, I've only dealt with Colt SAAs before this. I finally noticed it while troubleshooting it.
