Need a shotgun for homedefense and one that i can shot paloma(dove) the only aminal i like to shoot with the shotgun. i do have a handgun but for HD you cannot go wrong with SG. i ahve read been reading and i have not found any thing specific. some people say thing and that i want to know HD shotgun that i can use also out in the wild manufacter does not matter thanxs :)

Id get an 870 police w/ the ext tube, and an extra barrel for bird. That way you have the mag ext, 18 in barrel, already, and a barrel that accepts chokes for bird.

I second the 870 Police Magnum, and if you don't mind the glossier finish, the Wingmaster, with a second barrel threaded for RemChokes.

The ext (extended magazine) tube, lets you load 2 (or 3? I don't use them) extra rounds for HD. For migratory birds, you still have to plug the magazine to only hold 2 rounds, I believe.

The chokes are screw-in pieces that go into the ends of barrels threaded for them. They constrict the end of the barrel to differing degrees, offering better performance depending on the size of the shot.

The second (hunting barrel) should be one threaded for RemChokes. Depending on what size shot you use for your bird hunting, I suspect a modified choke will work best, maybe a full. Best thing to do is get the gun and extra barrel, and as many different brands of your preferred shot size, and pattern them.

yes an 870 will work quite nicely. Use #6 shot for home and 7 1/2 for the doves but make sure to have two separate barrels for the two. Nothing scares robbers mre than the distinct sound of a pump shotgun chambering a round

if i buy the SG and will not have money to buy the choke or another barrel at the moment can i use the stock barrel to shot doves? will i hurt it? it it bad?

Yes the stock barrel will work for close doves, say out to 30 yards. Using trap loads of 7 1/2s might squeeze it to 35.
