Need disassembly, maintenance info on M14/M1A

Could anyone suggest a good informational site on M1A field stripping and cleaning? Also, a good source of GI or Chinese or Thermold magazines. Thanks.

I get get up to the point where the op-rod needs removing and get bogged down. Has anyone a URL of a pictorial description of the process handy?

Hit the same problem myself (at the same point actually, yesterday). Found nothing on the web except people who wanted to sell manuals, but I called Springfield Armory and got them to ship another manual. They're free, ya know...

The Scott Duff M-14 Book

Packs a lot of info into a $20 package. Good luck with your rifle. Mine is just a delight.

After removing the spring, the Op rod must be drawn rearwards and rotated out of the slot.

Regards.

Yay Oleg! Got the M14 bug eh? :D

Lot's of info here:

I also have a PDF of the US army manual on the thing somewhere if you like -- I don't remember where I got it.

Finally, FredsM14stocks.com has a pretty cheap maintenence manual as I recall.. good place to get odds-n-ends for the thing anyhow.
