I saw a LAPD shooting instructor/top competitor on the History channel with a really cool set of shooting/eye protection. Typical 70's 'cop' teardrop design, but were worn high on his face. Dark but thin frame, clear lense.

ThX to all. Merry Christmas. Whoops. Did I offend?

No... nice glasses, but not Lehman or Hy-Wyd style.

The idea is that the Hy-Wyd style glasses sit quite high on your face... so when you're behind a scope, or looking up a shotgun rib, or even with your head down behind some pistol sights, you're looking thru lens rather than lens frame, or worse over the top of the frame.

Some of the better shooting glasses makers are Decot (Hy-Wyd), Hi-Def Spex, Post 4, Oakley and Randolph (Ranger). You can get multiple colors for different shooting scenarios

I've got an ancient pair of yellow CR39 lensed Lehmans, who is the originator of the design, back in the 80s when he ran adds in gun magazines.
I don't think he's even in business any more 'cause his original patent expired... but there are several makers that carry on, and may have even improved the design. Decot as Casimer listed, L+M lenses and a few others.
Bud Decot has been around for a looooong time. :p

You'll find them quite often on benchrest, hi-power and shotgun competitions. You used to see them a lot in combat handgun until Oakley started sponsoring big time shooters... but I think even people like Rob Latham are back to using Decot Hy-Wyds.

If you like Oakley and WileyX, they both make a sort of high fit shooting glass called, respectively, the Radar XL and Saber.

Merry Christmas!

In IPSC, I have never had an issue with the frames being to low. They are never blocking my sights. I can see how it could be an issue shooting trap. The Wiley X Draphts sit tight against my face and are ANSI high impact rated. They are available with clear, brown, and black tinted lenses.
