Need assistance ID'ing a box

Hi everyone!

I'm Brandomack.

I'm a prop-maker, and i've been commissioned to build a replica of the "Samaritan" case from the 2004 film "Hellboy"

I wanted to know if any of you were able to recognize this box in particular. (Apologies for the dark images) It appears to be some sort of ammo box?

If any of you would be able to tell me what kind this is, i would be incredibly grateful.

Thank you for looking!

B

I don't think it's an ammo box, not with that kind of hinge. Too flimsy, I think.

It looks like a light duty metal utility box.

And yes, it does have an older first aid kit box look about it.

looks custom to me. that is clearly a latch like an ammo box uses, but I have never seen one on a box of that form factor. all the first aid kits like that which I've seen use 2 smaller latches and I would imagine most light duty boxes do as well. furthermore, the lid has a lip around 3 sides and piano hinge on the 4th with no lip. and the hinge looks to be brass like those found in home depot these days.
maybe it's a real box, but it looks custom made to me

It does look like some type of first-aid / medic box to me. Not the right dimensions for any ammo box I've seen.

That box looks just like the box that contained the n1/n2 transducer tester I used diagnosing C5A aircraft.

Old military test equipment. Quite a few of the diagnostic boxes are of that type.

I'll scope around and see if I can find one out there.

Try Army/Navy military surplus stores or pawn shops around the March AFB area. I assume SoCal since you are a prop maker.

SanAntonio would be the better area, since the Logistics center to repair/recycle or otherwise offload such equipment is at Kelly AFB.

Yep.
That looks like a test equipment box for pre-microprocessor aircraft systems.
We had quite a few tools in boxes very similar to those.

Finding the exact box may be difficult, but finding something similar......
I would start by checking out DLA/DRMO Air Force/ANG auctions for aircraft test equipment.
