I purchased my Model 1873 Cattleman (black powder frame) used, about a month ago and just had the chance to fire it,, As I was letting the six rounds off I noticed that the cylinder was binding up.. I needed two hands, (on hammer and cylinder) to turn it.. At first I thought it was the ammo, primer backing out, I was wrong.. So I tried a different brand,, same thing, I also shoot blanks out of my 45's so I tried some of them, samething,, I took the gun apart and noticed the "hand" that turns the cylinder had strange notches in it like someone applied forced to the hammer to turn the cylinder........ Can anyone tell me is it hard to ruin the hand???????

Sounds like it is snubbing in transition, i.e.the hand was not fitted properly. Off to the gun doctor for a new one!!

Sir;
Check your barrel/cylinder gap and the fit in the frame of your cylinder insert. Also, check and make sure your firing pin isn't "buggered" up and hitting shell rime. The marks in your "hand" are indicative of either condition.
