Hello everyone,
The Rifle: Remington 700 PSS .308
The Scope: Leupold Vari-X III 3.5-10X LR M1

I am now in the process of selecting some suitable bases and rings. After doing a search on TFL, it seems that the several people favor the Badger Ordnance rings and bases and I am considering these. I plan on shooting anywhere from 200-800 yards. With the Badger Ordnance bases, there is a 20 MOA forward cant for long distance shooting. With the scope I have selected, is the forward cant going to prohibit my close range shooting. Would I be better served by going with Leupold’s Mark 4 bases which (I think) are flat and have no taper to them.

Thanks,

ASG

Go with the Badger rings and 20MOA tapered base.

The tapered base will not hinder your short range shooting at all, and with that scope on a flat base you will run out of elevation adjustment at around 750yd with 168gr bullets at 2650fps.
