Well I'm shopping for a new sig p228. I plan to make the purchase this week.

First I want to know if all new p228's are the same -- other than finish color or any other cosmetic difference.

If what you are asking is "Are they the same size?" Yes.

You can also get them with SigLite night sights.

They are also available in a two tone finish or regular blue.

The newest Sig P228s have a slight change in the disassembly latch. It functions the same, but is alittle more rounder looking. I wouldn't turn aound for the difference.....

For the stamped version of the p226, some are made in West Germany and some are made in the US. The West German ones are better (tighter tolerances).

Is any of that also true for the p228, should I be looking for a particular p228 or are they all the same. Aside from cosmetic differences or bundled accessories, are there any other differences. Thanks Lightsped for pointing out the disassembly latch difference.

The guy at my local range has a sig p228 (without the k-kote finish) and he's selling it for $725.

Is that a good deal? Just want to hear some advice. Thanks.

I've seen them NIB here in Dallas for $449.00, I'm debating which to get the 225 or the 228. Both same price and NIB to top that. By the way these were new regular Sig finish pistols, with 2 magazines(10 rounders for the 228) and regular sights. Both were 2001 date coded... Stay Safe

good price?

Not in Texas. You can find 228s in TX at gun shows anywhere from $550.-650.

Usually, ranges and independant gun shops have the highest prices.

What's a good place to get a NIB Sig p228 (w/K-Kote) in the SF Bay Area? All the dealers around here are selling for over $700.

$700 is the best price that I have seen in the Bay Area as well. :(

Hint: Never ever buy a new gun from a San Francisco area gun store $$$$$$$$$.

Try calling the guys at River City Gun Exchange in Sacramento at (916) 428-0377, or the guys at the Firing Range in Vacaville at (707) 449-GUNS (449-4867), and see what they will charge to order a 228.

River City ordered a year 2001 P225 for me last month for $520. Not a bad California price. But 5then I'm a regular customer and your mileage may very. You have nothing to lose by calling them. Maybe a 2 hour drive will save you a $100 or more?

If you have a freindly FFL, you might consider an out of state transfer.
I found this NIB P228 http://www.auctionarms.com/search/displayitem.cfm?ItemNum=1821980

on the auctionarms website.

Also, I know you said new, but my most recent www.cdnninvestments.com catalog has on the cover P228 "demo" guns for $ 479 tutone and $ 449 blued with night sights. I've purchased from them many times, without any problems.(I spoke to Tracy)
They don't list firearms on the website, you have to call them.
