Need advice: 196 or 150 grain 8mm Mauser for Egyptian Hakim

Picked up a nice Hakim in 8mm Mauser at the gunshow. Got about 500 rounds of 150 grain 8mm ammo with it. I start looking online for more and I find that I currently have two options: 150 grain steel core Romanian from the 70's or 196 grain steel core Iranian from the 50's.

Which one do you think would be the "best" ammo for the Hakim? I really like lobbing heavy bullets, but the 150 grain stuff is 20 years newer. Since SP 8mm is hard to get, which one would have the better terminal ballistics?

Thanks.

Sorry to say I cannot help with the ammo as I do not have anything in 8mm nor have I in the past. However, when you get a chance could you post some pictures up of your new toy, I looked at one at a show and thought it was a bad deal and walked. I'm interested in what you got and would like to know how she shoots.

Sorry I can' help specifically with your Iranian ammo question buy my 1937 K98 is more accurate with the 1950's 196gr Yugo FMJ than with romanian 150gr.

I had a Hakim for a fear years and did shoot about 1000 through it.

The shot mostly Portugese 198gr's through it and it did well with that. I tried 150's once and was not impressed. I think the ehavier bullet will perform better in this rifle.

196grain, superior ballistic coefficient and sectional density.

This is the bullet weight designed for 8mm.

If the ammo was properly stored, age has little effect.

Yea, but that is a BIG "if".

That's my thought.

Cool.
