I would like a compact, ruggad, bright, and affordable flashlight. I dont want cheap but it is unbelieveable to me that surfire is selling handheld flashlights for 500 bucks. Anyone know of a good one for under 100?

im sure there is quite a few decent lights for under 100 to choose from.
heres one.

might want to pick up some batteries and charger also if you decide to go rechargable at the same time.
if you want cheaper try here

pick out a host in the battery config you want and a drop in for the voltage you need.
by going this route you have a few more choices in modes add accesories ive had a couple of solarforce cree r5 drop ins with the smooth reflector and so far they have been doing well for over a year, bright, good throw and runtime.

Like you, I wanted a decent flashlight. It needed to be small, bright, with good battery life, and affordable. I've got a couple, with the favorite being a Browning. The newest flashlight, and I bought it just to see if it was as good as advertised, was a Primos. It didn't cost much, though I can't remember the price (less than $70 for sure and I think it was less than $50) and it's real bright. And, it uses 'normal' batteries - AA size. So far, I'm impressed.
