I just got a S&W .357 in a trade and could use some help to date it...

I believe they only made this model from 2005-2009 from what I could find via Google. I've read rumors of North Carolina prison guards being issued this model and the two piece barrel blowing apart. I can't quantify this so I don't know if that's why it was discontinued or what... Any help or info is greatly appreciated. Thanks
