This was a long post, so I've edited it to save time.
Did Colt ever make a .44-40 SAA with an italic barrel address?
I hear the italic address ended in 1876, and the .44-40 chambering was introduced in the Colt 1878 (or they started calling them COLT FRONTIER SIX SHOOTERs in 1878).
Was there a "pre-Colt Frontier Six Shooter" SAA chambered in .44-40 before the italic address style changed to block letters...?
Thanks!
