SA Barrels
Call me cheap, but I went ahead and bought a Springfield Armory SS barrel and bushing online. I own a "1988 vintage" SA 1911A1 "Mil Spec" with the old two piece barrel. I restarted shoting IPSC matches and found the old barrel leading and jamming quite frequently. SA online shopping prices are very reasonable: $76.50 for the barrel and $12.50 for the bushing. Both are stainless steel and per conversation with SA: "Match Grade". Recieved mine on a Friday, dropped it in, and shot a match the next morning. Functioning was perfect with 200gr LSWC's. Have not been to the range for accuracy testing, but shot pretty consistent POA as with original barrel. Hope to get out to the range soon to determine how much "match grade" it is.
Depending on the reason for your barrel replacement, the shipped to my door price of $97.95 as a good deal. I was not looking for absolute accuracy. In the relative close quarter events in IPSC, I was looking for a reliability improvement and marginal cost. Majority of the Match Grade barrels from the other guys were about $160 and up. As I get better, I may decide on a Schuemann AET fitted Match Barrel and Bushing, but until then, this SA combo has impressed me so far.
