Need 45ACP cyl for Ruger Blackhawk

Anyone know of an online source where I could buy a 45acp cylinder for a Ruger New Model Blackhawk SA revolver? Years ago, when I bought my 45 Colt, either I got ripped off by the dealer or was just to dumb to care, but my 'converitible' revolver didn't come with the 2nd cyl. Or maybe it wasn't supposed to at that time.

Whatever... I would like to have one and can't find anything about them. Don't know if Ruger sells this part, since I can't seem to get into their store site.

I had the same situation with a Sauer&Sohn S/A revovlver with .44mag and an extra cylinder for 44/40.I got the 44mag and later on wanted the 44/40 cylinder. The answer given to me at the time was you MUST send the revolver back to the factory and THey would fit it. They would not sell and ship just the extra cylinder. Quantrill
 
Ruger will build the cylinder for you, but you must send them the gun to fit it. I have a 45 convertible and was asking them if they could build me a .460 Rowland cylinder (no of course not) but they do fab .45 ACP for Blackhawks.
 
FWIW, I've been through this with a ruger single six. It had to go back to the factory for fitting . Total charge was only $55 to supply and fit it but they took the liberty of bringing my trigger up to the new gritty standard. :(

And there's no way around it either. Legally they can't let a gun out of the factory in the old configuration.
 
I was wondering about the fitting or barrel/cylinder gap isssue, but I didn't realize Ruger worried about it! The other convertable revolvers I've seen and owned weren't exactly hand fitted. Seems like they could just provide a cylinder and make the sale.

As for ebay - I will continue to look, but no luck so far.

Are you saying that they put the transfer bar in and it made your trigger pull gritty?

I have a mid to late 70's Single Six with the transfer bar and the trigger pull is perfectly crisp and light. All the new Single Six and Blackhawk revolvers I've seen and owned have the gritty trigger and sharp edges though.
 
try a gunshow. I'm not sure if fitting required as I bought a blue ruger 45 acp cylinder from a friend and it works great in a SST 45 Colt Blackhawk

If your Blackhawk was originally a convertable, Ruger will fit a replacement cylinder for a very reasonable cost. Your existing .45 colt cylinder should have a 3 digit assembly number scribed on the front face, if it was originally part of a set.

Thanks - I don't recall ever seeing a 3 digit # on the cylinder, but I will look. Maybe that's why I didn't get the extra to begin with.
