NC deer taken Friday

Here's an eight-pointer taken with a 30-06 in northeastern NC last Friday. Deer wt. was estimated at 170 lbs. Note the swollen neck, as the rut is underway here.

How far away did you take him? And in what kind of cover?

Not my kill

But I think it was about sixty yards, as I recall. Deer was standing still. Hunter was in an elevated stand. This was near the Roanoke River.

Nice Buck. What county did you take it in? The reason I ask , I hunt some in Caswell CO. I am getting ready for the black powder season up there. I would like to see one come through like what you killed. Good luck and I hope you get you one that is bigger than that one.
