NBA player caught firing handgun in DC

what a joke. Community service? these professional (thugs) sports players need to get a big kick in the butt from the judical system telling them that they arnt any more special than the rest of us.

What is the greater crime here?

"He spent two weeks in jail after he and two other men were arrested in Washington on Sept. 5 for allegedly shooting randomly into the air."

So, basically, this ball player is allowed to plead out the charge of actually wrecklessly discharging a firearm in public which could have caused tragedy and is only facing charges for not "registering" his firearm and ammunition???

I think that this would be one of those cases where maybe, just maybe, this rocket scientist should have his right to own firearms taken from him. But, then again, he has a few things going for him-

a) he's rich,
b) he's a minority (can do no wrong since to say so would simply be another form of oppression)), and
c) he plays a professional sport (which makes his behavior excusable since he is simply a victim of having been treated special his entire adult life and therefore unable to fully comprehend the consequences of bad behavior that I and the rest of us "normal" people learn at an early age)

I guess it's just me?

Vanguard.45

"yes honorable judge. i understand that i shot a handgun multiple times with friends in downtown D.C. yes yes yes, i know its a felony, but i did exactly what what Rodney White did in "White v.s. The District of Columbia" so really all i should get is like 2 days in a lock up and some community service. oh yeah i will sign that letter that says i promise to be a good boy for 3 more years"

....we find the defendant... Guilty because your not FAMOUS!
