Just looking over the Navy Arms Website. Does anyone know if thier 308 "Enfields" are restored Enfields rechambered, re-arsenled Ishapores or if they make thier own actions at this point. Any experience with these would also be appreciated.

Thanks, Blue Duck

Navy Arms does not make their own Lee-Enfield actions. All of the .308 Winchester chambered Lee-Enfields they offer are the Indian Ishapore 2A rifles, which are "new" (beginning in the 1960's) Indian made Enfield No1MkIII actions with a stronger steel for the .308 Winchester cartridge. The 2A "Tanker Carbine" shown on their site is nothing more than a chopped standard 2A Ishapore rifle.

The only historically real Lee-Enfields in .308 that were not built by the Indians and Pakistanis are the later No4Mk1 and No4Mk1(T) rifles assembled by the British and Canadian governments for sniper and target work. The L39 and L42 variants are the most widely known .308 Commonwealth variants.
