With this latest move by the NPS to restrict snomobiles in the various parks, we have picked up a number of allies. The "Sledders" are livid!!! In my area there are a large number of them and they are pi$$ed!
This whole attitude of the Feds putting more and more restrictions on Law-abiding/Tax-paying citizens is starting to get to a lot of people.
Snomobilers do make some noise but they do almost NO damage as they run on the SNOW not the ground. And the "Air Pollution" isn't much worse than the smell of sweaty Cross-country skiers. They just like to go to the Great Outdoors and peaceably have some fun. Sound like another group we know???
First they don't want you to be able to protect yourself or your family while they boost the predator population (2 and 4 legged), next they close down several recreational activities ( snomobiling, boating, etc.) and next they are trying to limit the number of vehicles accessing the parks. They want you to park in designated areas and ride a bus in. They are making noises about banning horses and mules because of the weeds they bring in their droppings. And finally, you can expect the Park Service to take over the Forest Service as they don't seem to be in the forestry business any more. That will REALLY lock up a lot of land.
With over HALF of the Western US federal property, that's a lot of open space that people won't be able to get into.
If the Feds keep at it, soon we might even have a majority of people mad at them and can get some changes made.
