Just curious--does anyone have any hard data concerning the success or impact of HR 218? I'm especially curious about any instances where an armed off duty LEO assisted law enforcement in another State.

None that I have heard. The major problem with the legistlation seems to be departments (like mine) that refuse to qualify their retired officers out of fear of lawsuits. Keeping the total numbers of gun toters down so far...

It's major effect on me, is that I can now carry legally anywhere! :D :D :D

Check with other agencies within your state. My old agency was Federal, and is still "researching" how to issue qualification credentials, etc. Went to my county SO, qualified the same day. :D

Ya well we are the county SO and all the smaller departments seem to be following suit. Don't even dream about Seattle PD allowing anyone not active duty to shoot...

I'd like to see any info on this as well. My dept is perfectly ok with HR218, and some other local depts I've seen have actually put some wording on the back of their ID cards about HR218...
