Are there any other fans of the C.J. Box novels about Joe Pickett, game warden and his kick butt pard, Nate?
If so, in the latest yarn, "A Force of Nature", Nate abandons his trusty Freedom .454 Casull for one in Wyoming 500.

Anyone have a Freedom Arms?

I do. I have a model 83 in 454 Casull. Only the crappy field version (sic), not the premier. What's with wives anyway? I must've done something wrong to get the field grade, lol.

It is the most accurate, sweetest trigger, handiest single action I have. It handles like a Rolls Royce and was worth every penny (she) spent on it. This gun is worth it! It is my BBQ gun and a shooter and is so good, I had to buy a stunt double for it lol. So a Ruger Blackhawk was added also in 45 Colt so that some of my more clumsier friends will never get to hold the FA. :D

The BH is very impressive in it's own right, but its no FA!

The model 83 is so tight that it is picky about ammo. It rejected a whole box of factory Winchester 250 gr JHPs that I got with the gun. I was trying to liberate the brass to reload and Winchester let me down. It likes my reloads though, so in your face Winchester, lol! :D

I sent my 555 .50AE back a few years ago to have it fitted with a .500 Wyoming Express convertible cylinder. With either cylinder, there is absolutely no discernible end play or torsional play, either at rest or cocked. The barrel cylinder gap on both is ~.0015" (one and a half thousandths), and both are extremely accurate.

A small 3x3 mulie I took below my house in '06 with the .50AE cylinder - one shot to the head at a lased 145 yards from a solid rest across a stump.
