Nagant revolver

So I saw a Nagant (Russian) revolver yesterday for $80. It was in excellent shape. Is it worth it? Anyone had experience with these?

Price wise that's about what they are going for nowdays. Interesting revolver to shoot. You can get some information on it here.

Main drawbacks are the trigger pulll; forget about firing it double action and the cost and availability of ammo. The best ammo is Fiocchi and goes for $29 - $35/50 (when you can find it). There is some Russian target ammo out there $14.95/40 but I swear my Daisy BB gun has more recoil than that stuff (it is pretty accurate though). I normally shoot .32 H&R Mag or .32 S&W Long out of mine if I can't get the cheap stuff.

Thanks guys. I've been doing some net research and found that most folks are reliably shooting 32 S&W Long and 32 H&R Magnum ammo out of these things. Next time I'm in that shop I'll likely get one of those and a Nagant rifle :)

Now a couple questions: how would the 32 S&W Long compare to a 9mm, and would you hunt with it (white-tail deer)?

.32 S&W is weaker than .32acp and isn't even in the same ballpark as 9mm and would be inhumane for deer. .32H&R magnums are about like a standard pressure .38. Both would be OK for small game such as rabbits or squirrels.

There are a number of Vendors in Shotgun News who are offering .32 ACP cylinders for the Nagant revolver. Check one out. :)
