Nagant revolver and the horse

Jbar4Ranch's thread on the nagant revolver was not only informative but thought provoking.I to own one of these fine revolvers.Mine has been altered and no longer a collectors piece. It came chambered in 32 s&w long.We lost the jack handle to the rambler station wagon years ago so I filed the front sight off the nagant and the gun is a perfect substitute,I also removed the lanyard and the butt of the gun works great for driving fence staples,I also sanded the round checkered grips and now has a feel that should be familiar to any man if you know what I mean.I carried this revolver last spring while helping a friend work cows, altho I could feel all eyes on me at the branding iron fire , knowone asked about the revolver and acted as if they were more interested in the contents of the ice chest than what I had on my hip.Now I always wear safety glass's and ear muffs at these doings so maybe I just didn't hear. I did carry it in an original military flap holster that completly conseals the revolver and after the work was done and the horses trailerd some misinformed fool comented, nice currey comb pouch.Anyway my gelding acted up some at this outing.I am not a cold weather rider,I've ridden in the snow and now leave it to the younger people so my horse has several monthes to think of ways to agrivate me. I know that I will be called upon again this spring for help, thus the question,do you think a 32 s&w has enough poop to drop a misbehaving horse,or should I go with the 45lc,keeping in mind the much louder colt may stampede the cows.Eventho I have my safety glasses and earmuffs on I could be injured by shooting a running horse out from under myself. One more thought,my wifes chickens are getting a few years on them and not laying like they used to,do you think my horse would get the big picture if I were to execute one of them with my nagant right in front of him??He may hate chickens and like seeing them shot so this could backfire and cause him to act up even worse.Your comments would be appreciated..
