I bought mine from InterOrdnance and it came in like new condition (arsenal refurbished) with wood grips, holster, lanyard and cleaning rod. At present, they only have the pre-1918 model and the single-action "Soldiers" model, which are both a little more expensive that the generic Nagants. It might be worth a look though.
Mine was Imported by CAI, and sold by SOG about a year ago. It is not rearsenaled, but original finish. The blue finish has no wear, except a cylinder ring that I placed there myself (and that damned CAI buzzpen work on the right side) It is a 1944 double action. It came with the holster and lanyard. A mil-spec cleaning rod is attached to the holster. The grips are good, the side grips on mine are bakelite, the rear is wood.
At $85-90 I bought mine as a curiosity. It's enjoyable for that with me. The action is unique. I have not shot it, but I would think it would not be very accurate in my hands because of the heavy trigger. Even SA is heavier than you would expect (and I did take the pistol apart and clean out the cosmoline, lubed with Ballistol and Tetra ).
If you are the kind of gun nut that likes to hold a gun and imagine the stories behind it, the Nagant might be the gun for you. If I recall correctly, someone was posting that they might order a couple and use them in cowboy action shooting. Personally, I think that is a fantastic idea. The Nagant, with some action work would be unique in the sea of reproduction SAA. Even the Ivan persona could be played up.
That was me! I am always interested in mil-surp revolvers. I am a CAS shooter. I enjoy history and daydreaming. It would be a neat item for a Mad Russian persona.
