I received an E mail from Mr Robert P Firrolo, a pro RKBA atorney here on Long Island. He advises that the Nassau County Legislature is going to vote tomorrow, Friday, June 23, on the proposed increase in the licensing fees.

Current 5 year fees are $25 and would go to $200.

New license fees ae currently $40 and would go to $200 also.

Call your legislator and voice your displeasure.

Jimc...yes Gulotta is still in power. For how long is uncertain. Nassau is in deep doo doo financially, there will be layoffs and higher taxes for sure.

The republican minority leader in the county legislature claims it costs $1000 to process a pistol permit! This is partially because they use NCPD officers to process the applications (salary for common PO is $51.30 an hour!).This must be using Lawyers time ( 1 phone call =1 hour for billing purposes etc).

They do have high priced help . These jobs are plums . When I went for a Tow Truck Drivers license in N.Y.C. they also did pistol permits there . A Patrolman First Class sat at a desk outside the room reading a paper . When you came in you signed in on the list for Tow or Pistol . As someone walked out he would look at the list handled by the officer at the desk where the last guy left from . He would then call the next name on the list that officer handled . Then go back to the paper .

The phone calls must have helped somewhat. I have in my possession a copy of an "Inter-departmental memo" from the county executive Tom Gulotta requesting that the legislature reconsider the fee increase. He is proposing an increase to only $75.00 (!)rather than the $200 the legislature wants.

See, calling does work!

Hmmmm just looked at my original post, guess I should double check my spelling, especially when I get excited.
