NAA Mini Technique?

Picked one of these little guys up while just "browsing". Couldn't pass it up. 1 1/8" Barrel spare .22LR cylinder, zippercase, holster for 145.00. So, how do you guys practice with this thing? Any helpful drills? What have you done in the way of modifications? Ammo recommendations? I just took the dremel to the wood grips to thin them out. I took them from 27mm down to 19mm, feels great! I am thinking about trying to get the front tapped for a shotgun bead sight and trying to stick on a fiberoptic dot. Thanks.

A long time ago, I read about holding the grip with the right hand and working the hammer and trigger with the left. It also said to hold the gun close to your chest and point shoot.

Considering the amount of recoil the method seems to make sense. I feel they kick alot.

The only mod I would make to the sights would be grinding them off if they really bug you :) I'd just leave them the way they are. I like NAA and have a mini and a guardian, but the sights on their guns are a joke. With these guns, learn to point shoot.

Joe Redneck, that's a pretty cool idea I hadn't thought of. I will try it. Looked at some rear pocket holsters. Do the right hand models actually have the butt of the gun facing to your right? This makes the draw a little awkward where you have to turn your hand 90 degrees to get it out, is this "proper" for a right handed rear pocket holster?

sox,I just obtained a NAA mini .22 magnum and ordered a Newt Livesay neck sheath for it.I read an article several years ago where You would use a two handed hold and thumb the hammer with the off hand but it didn't indicate using the off hand to pull the trigger.I'll try both methods next trip to the range.tom.

If you're right handed:
Place the handgrip between your right middle finger and left thumb pulling your right middle finger back against the front of the handgrip and pushing your left thumb forward against the back of the handgrip. With this very secure grip you use your right forefinger on the trigger and right thumb on the hammer.
Works for me.

Thanks for the input guys. Got to the range today pumped about tryin out this cool little gem. Two cylinders into it, the sharp edge of the cylinder caught my thumb and opened it up! Bit my lip, got pissed. Quickly traded that thing on a .32 Guardian- which I should've done in the first place! Well that wasn't fun, but chalk one up to experience. But they are cool to look at! Thanks all.

I also have the .22 MAG mini.....

It took me many-many-many trips to the range to finally shoot what could be called identifiable "groups" with the mini.

The best modification I did was to order the rubber over-sized grips for it. Now, the gun fits in my large hands like a glove and I can now rapidly cock and fire with much greater control and accuracy.

I shoot it strictly one-handed and practice at 7 yards to "up close and personal range." I practice by actually drawing from the pocket, acquiring the target and firing repeatedly until the cylinder is empty. With the oversized grip, I squeeze the trigger with the middle segment of my trigger finger and it gives an almost ideal alignment. My accuracy from one year ago to the replacement grips has been astonishing - a quantum leap,

In summary, I would really take a close look at NAA's replacement oversize rubber grips for your mini. Not only do they make the gun fit your hand better but with a small Uncle Mike's soft flexible pocket holster, it is still infinitely concealable

sox, sorry to hear of Your unfortuante experience with the NAA mini. You did, however, get a good gun on trade.I tried all three techniques with My mini today and found it quite satisfactory.Good luck with Your new Guardian.tom.:)
