NAA Mini question

A while ago I read something about the possbility of "sympathetic discharge" in NAA mini revolvers (this doesnt pertain to the mags). The theory goes like this -- The cylinder in the NAA minis allows the rim of adjacent rounds to be in contact with one another. When a round is fired the energy from that round can set off the round next to it. Anyone heard of this actually happening (or seen it). (I love NAA products and respect the company; I find it hard to think they'd expose themselves liability like this).

I would be inclined not to worry about this. Don't think there's enouhg recoil, contact between the primers etc to make it happen.

In the cap'n'ball models maybe. That's called a "chainfire" I think. Used to be common in the pre-cartridge days. That's why you grease-coat the projectiles.

In a .22LR or .22Magnum mini, forget it. If anything, it'd be more likely in the Magnums, as they're fatter than the LRs/Shorts. Hmmm. The *only* way I can see it happening is total catastrophic failure of a shell's rear end that sends hot gasses sideways. Use even moderately quality ammo and it won't happen. I use CCI exclusively in the Magnums, primer and shell reliability is unmatched.

Not!

I just took my mini-magnum out of my pocket and looked. The adjacent cartridges do no touch each other.

I think this is just hypothetical nonsense. I also hear people say that the gun will fire if you finger slips while cocking the tiny hammer (not true), that the gun is unsafe to carry with 5 rounds in it (not true) and that accuracy is limited to placing the barrel in someone's ear (definitely not true).

People who don't have min-revolvers just dont understand them or believe they could possibly be a good, serviceable weapon.

WHAT HE SAID

I currently have 4 of these mini's from NAA. I have had them for over 10 years and shoot this a bit more than most(I think they are fun). I no way is this possible. What is possible is a round under the hammer going off if the gun is dropped. The newer guns have carry notches in the cylinder for just this reason. NAA mini revolvers - great little guns and fun plinkers too!
