N frame grips

Why is it that most of the grips that I see for N-frames fill the spot behind the trigger guard where my middle finger should go? Is it an attempt to get a more natural line in the grip or to protect the fingers from the trigger guard under recoil?
In either case I'm not sure that I like it. I want something smaller than the Hoague monogrip that came on the 625, like maybe a remake of the original grips that came on N-Frame RB guns. i.e. the war time S&W 1917.

You and I are in the minority. Liking the old, thin slab grips on the large frame Smiths.

My hands are small and the modern fat grips work but just not comfortable.

Nose around the gun shops and paw through their funky grips box. Fair chance of finding a pair for an older N frame.

Try:

Altamont Company
P.O. Box 309
Thomasboro, IL. 61878
(800) 626 5774

I understand they made some special grips along the line you want for a recent Smith & Wesson factory project.

You might try the Jerry Miculek grips made by Bang Corp. They are far thinner in girth than the standard Hogue grips (I think Hogue actually makes the Miculeks).

Like these?

I think that Ajax will make these for you. Ajax Grips

Yep that's what I want, except in RB configuration. I actually have a set of Miculeks. They are so tight that I can't get them installed. I've contacted Bang Inc, but no-one has gotten back to me yet. It's only been 10 days so far.

Like these Sambar stag grips for a S&W N frame made by Eagle grips. For sale in our own TFL classifieds for;

$90.00

Shown on a S&W Mountain Gun.

It is hard to see in a two dimensional picture but these grips form an oval shape when installed on the frame. Very much like the grips on an old Ruger Speed Six. I agree they are very comfortable.

Alas as with all things lately, due to a shortage of funds.

I was thinking today how I am sick and tired of my thoughts and life being driven by money, or the lack of it. The price you pay for keeping two kids in private school and making the payments on the farm.

LOL

I guess when I run out of stuff I will have to get a third job.

Nice grips though.

SIGH
