Pachmayr Presentations is a popular no-groove grip for the N-frames. I've had them on a Redhawk and have used them on the S&W 629. They feel great to me.
But Presentations are heavy so for the trail, on a 4" Redhawk, I use the Hogue Monogrip with the grooves - a grip which I have come to appreciate. The backstrap is exposed, which puts your hand closer to the gun's center of gravity - so balance is better. The gun is 4 ounces lighter (20 quarters!) but feels 10 ounces lighter. It points better, and one-hand shooting is easy. The N-frame Hogue Monogrip gets a lot of flak, but not from me. adk
