Mystery CZ75

Maybe somebody can help me with this question. I bought a new-in-box CZ75 made in 1987, however, there are no importer markings anywhere on this gun. I own two other CZ75s made in 1985 and both of them were imported by Bauska in Kalispell, MT, as this is inscribed on the left hand side of the slide below the front sight. Anyone have any idea why this 1987 CZ75 has no markings of an importer?

Did you buy from a shop or private party? Soldier stationed in Europe some times bring back fire arms with them. They fill out the appropriate paper work and return with items such as the CZ75 in question. It sounds like this is one of them. A better physical description would help. What are the finish, hammer, trigger guard, and sights like?

So many pistols, so little money.

Since you got it NIB, if it's one of the ones from Europe the box should be a styrofoam container with a thin open-ended cardboard cover. Inside there should be cutout for the pistol, the extra mag, a cleaning rod, and there should be a test target and a manual in Czech, English, German and French. I've heard the imports have a different grip, your grip should have the CZ logo near the bottom. I've also heard all the imports had a half-cock safety, but I don't know what year that started. If the original owner got yours in Europe there's no half-cock safety, the only "safe" options are hammer down on empty chamber or cocked/locked. Also, I've heard about differences in the magazine well, yours should freely drop an empty mag. This is probably the same as imports, but the s/n should be on the right side on the frame, the slide, and the barrel. If you have questions about something specific let me know and I'll check.

deguello,

You describe an early CZ box. There are many variations. There plain cardboard boxes with everthing written in Czech. As well there are some cardboard boxes with blue spots on the outside and inside a light plastic case. Again everything on the box will be in Czech. Not all CZ75s were shipped with two mags. In fact many of the non-imported marked CZs were shipped with only one mag. The space in their boxes is not for an extra mag. The pistol is intended to sit in the box without a mag inserted. The mag thus should reside in the space provided.

Deguello you are a mine of information...Mine is a '95 manufactured CZ-75 with D/A, half-cock AND cock and lock option, the bit about the poor euro packaging and poor paper quality was spot-on !
All my data except the test target was for a 9mm Para in 4 languages (it was a .40S&W!) and the internal plastic lining in the plastic "briefcase" quickly disintergated in use.
A cleaning brush and a rod was supplied, plus an extra (free-falling) magazine.

Replacement 2 mags recently purchased were in polished s/steel and had "post-ban" 10 shots(Vs. 12), using a longer and weaker spring but same length magazine, with a curious thin saw-cut at the bottom extending 3/4 the way around. They work well, but only drop out properly on the hammer down or slide locked back (empty mag) position. No makers marks on them or calibre.

I can't think why. Can anyone help?

Great pistol though...love it !!! :)

This sounds like my CZ!! I bought my CZ75 in 1987 from a Rod n' Gun Club in Augsburg, Germany. It came in a flimsy box, with target and manual in Czech/English. I will have to go home to look to see about the presence/absence of markings. I don't think there are any though.

Anyone know about the magazine I described?

Just like the one I purchased in Hanau, Germany in 89. The magazine's should have the same serial # of the gun on the magazines too. Mine has only proof marks.
