Mysterious Remington UMC M1911 Pistol

Read an article entitled "A Mysterious Remington UMC M1911 Pistol" in the new (Feb) American Rifleman. My brother has one that has no cerial #. In the past, we have asked many people in our neck of the woods what this gun was, but no one really knew. Now that we know what it is, we'd like to know how much it would be worth. Any ideas?

This pistol was brought home after WWII from Switzerland by our uncle.

I haven't browsed for them lately, but I know there are some collector-gun and high-end gun dealers with Websites. Hang on to the article, and "go hunting".

Relatively common original-condition older Colts are "ask" at $600 to $800 at recent gun shows I've been to. Yours might well be worth a good bit more.

Hope this helps, Art

If it never had a serial number, no sweat. If the number has been removed, there could be legal concerns.
