My Wonderful Ruger Single Six

I bought this gun new many years ago. I forget the year, but it was under $200. I'm sure the writings of Ross Seyfried about the new .32 H&R mag cartridge influenced me at the time. I sent the gun to a guy named Gary Reeder, who cut & welded the grip frame into the bird's-head confiquration, also shaped the ebony grips I had on the gun at the time. Imagine my surprise when years later Ruger came out with the factory bird's-head grip frame.
Handy, accurate, easy shooting piece. One of my favorites.

I was never fond of the bird's head grip, though it has been popular through the years, and remains so. But your ebony grips are handsome.

I have been through several Single Sixes, recently scoring a like-new Three Screw at a gun show.

You said you've had that gun many years. It is a New Model, made only since 1973.

Wait a minute! That could be many years, couldn't it?

I like that Bird's Head grip...was surprised that I did too...I found this Single Six some years ago, in the .32 H&R caliber, restocked myself to doll it up a bit, then went about working up some loads. It's a shooter, tho was initially hitting a cpl inches left for me...I fixed that with some shade tree gunsmithng and found that it would hold and inch and a half at 25 yds on good days. For packing around the farm it's about ideal. Yours with those lovely adj. sights would have made the windage correction a lot easier!
Best Regards, Rod
