It's now Monday evening. I feel like I've done nothing but go shooting for the past 3 days. Here's how the past 3 days went.
Well, my wife and I took our friends to the range on Saturday morning. Everything went perfectly. After a safety lesson, we went over the operation of the .22 revolver. Then I fired one cylinder through it so that they would know what to expect. Then each newbie would get to fire a cylinder. They were too intent on shooting to count the number of rounds, and I would constantly watch them, especially for jerking/flinching on the "7th" round. They did very well. After a couple of cylinders each, I asked if they wanted to go to a larger round (.38 special) Both were having a great time and were excited to try a little bigger. At every stage, they were told that they could stop at any time if they didn't like that caliber or gun, or for whatever reason. Once again, operation of gun, then I'd fire a cylinder. Again, they both did great. Repeat process with 9mm. So far, all shooting done at approx 10 yrds on paper. Now was time to put up some clay pigeons on the dirt bank. Put out 6 row of 3 to 6 pigeons each. Made a game of it. They got to choose which gun they wanted to shoot. Each newbie got 2 shots to hit a pigeon. If they did hit it, they got to keep shooting until they missed 2 shots, or "killed" 5 pigeons in a row. They complained that I wasn't doing any shooting, so I took my turns as well, but would only shoot once. At one point, he hit 5 in a row and she took 4 in a row, both using .38 special. We stayed out about an hour longer than expected/planned on, but they REALLY didn't want to stop. Then, since they were both drooling over the scoped AR-15, I let them both run a 30 rd magazine through it. Then I finally called it quits, with the promise that we could go again another day.
After they drove away, my wife and I went to my favorite FFL, just for grins. I showed her the Glock-30 that I was looking at, and she promptly reminded me that SHE was looking at it the last time we were there. So, we went home with my wifes new Glock, but she promised that I could use it now and then too. It was already 1/2 an hour after the FFL's closing time when we got the G30, so we couldn't used their range. By the time that we could have made it to the next range, it would have been dard. So, of course we had to go try her new pistol on Sunday. (Oh darn! )
After getting back home Sunday, there was a message on our answering maching from my brother, who lives 4 1/2 hours away, asking me to call him. I did. He said that he was going to be in town on Monday, and said that he'd like to go shooting Monday afternoon. OK...here I go again. A few hundred more rounds and I'm about to be tired of shooting! Well, at least for a couple of days.
Hope everyone had as good of a weekend as I did.

All in all, I think we have a couple of new folks interested in the sport.
