Well, I had some kind of reaction to a bug bite today and it cramped up my foot REAL bad. The SOB hurt so bad it was almost bringing tears to my eyes. Needless to say I had to do something so I go to a walkin clinic, they tell me some physician I have never even seen has to give them permission to treat me *HMO deal* So while I sit there pratically pulling my hair out waiting for "permission" for 3 hours I was finally admitted. Now I was in real pain and really disgruntled by now and I was not walking out of there with asprin or acetominophen that would not work and I could by at publix, or so I thought. This snooty doctor comes in and I give her the details, and I specifically tell her I will not take acetominophen so immediately she trys to give me darvocet. The "professional" didn't even know it had acetominophen in it, or she just thought I was stupid ! Where did she get her license anyway ??!! Then I just up and say I want Talwin ( because I'd already ate 5 asprins and I needed something w/o other ingrediants )and it hurt bad enough that talwin would have had a hard time treating it, it hurt so bad I could not concentrate @ work. Then she gets all huffy and says do you want to go to the emergency room ? I can't give you narcotics. Now we see that she has no clue what talwin is other then it's pretty strong - it's a narcotic antagonist. And she is a doctor, why can't she prescribe pain medication ?
Then she was going to send me on my way, that's it - no treatment, just give me your 100.00 and be on your way, luckily a co-worker had this happen to him before and told me what they did to cure it so I told her, they gave me two shots and some naproxen & some other drug she said isn't a narcotic - I checked and it is some weird narcotic that doesn't work - thats 3 strikes on knowing ANYTHING about the drugs she dishes out and this lady is allowed to prescribe drugs ! Anyway thanks to Ray ( my co-worker ) it's a little better now but that brings up a new point to socialist medicine, could she have legally given me talwin or was she just being a pulling my leg ? If she is a doctor and can't give it to you, it is for moderate to severe pain, then how do you get pain medication prescribed ? Granted I didn't have any gaping wounds but the pain was real, I've been in a head in collision where my chest broke off the steering column and it didn't hurt any worse. I spent 100.00 & 3 hours in major pain in the waiting room and could not get anything for it that would work, and I expected as much that's why I ask for it specifically. I needed something strong enough that I could return to work. Has thge .gov gone so psycho over this drug war that you can't even get pain medication for legitimate purposes, never mind if what they prescribe you doesn't work. I don't go to the doctor much but I absolutely had to because of the pain. I also see that she wrote " wanted talwin" on my record, inferring I was a druggie and lying I suspect. Well what she gave me needless to say didn't work but got me screwed up worse then talwin so what is the problem, they have no problem giving you something that screws you up but it can't work. I may do a webpage to help them plublicity wise for that one. It was clark & daughtery medical group on S. Florida AVe. in Lakeland FL.
Have any of you all had any experience like this ? Also have you found that doctors do not even seem willing to do anything besides collect your money, if I hadn't have told her what to do I'd still be screwed up right now and besides that I was always under the assumption that if you were in pain then they should prescribe something for it.
