I hope to receive good information, give good information, and just have good conversation with other fellow gun enthusiasts. I heard that this place is pretty clean. Always a plus. :)

Anyway, just here to say, "Hello!"

Welcome to a nice place to share what you know and learn what you don't.

I'm glad to see you made it over Orion. I'm sure TFL will live up to all I told you and more. :)

Did you get a chance to shoot that 10/22 yet?

Gunslinger

I was promised a Shortycicle and I want a Shortycicle!

I thought an Orion was a Long Runway type aircraft... Getting an Orion the VTOL would take some very clever engineering.
Would it still have the loiter time and payload?

:D
Yeah - welcome...

Thanks for the warm welcome, everyone!

Gunslinger, hello! No, I didn't get a chance to shoot it yet because my brother was in from out of town. I plan to this Saturday though. Partly because I have to check it, now that I changed a few parts out. I changed the barrel (16" bull barrel), the stock (Hogue OM), the trigger and hammer, the extracter, the bolt release, put on an extended magazine release, and put a Volquartzen stabilization module on it. And the mods were quite easy to do. It is amazing how simple it is to take the WHOLE rifle down to just parts. :) Anyway, I'll be sure to let give a range report.

George Hill, LOL!! Yes, it WOULD be quite a feat to get the P3 Orion to be a VTOL aircraft. Actually, the name Orion is because of the P3 Orion (My favorite sub hunter), AND the Orion Nebula. One of the best looking Real Estates in the heavens. :)

Anyway, it's good to be here.

Welcome Orion.

Met an Orion pilot once. He was reassigned from F-18s to subhunting. Now that was an interesting carpool experience.

4V50 Gary, that would be quite a different bit of piloting, going from a jet fighter to turbo prop heavy. However, I think (if I were in the Navy) I would rather fly the Orion. It has a little more character, as far as I'm concerned. I'll never know though. :(

Oh well. :)

Got to do a takeoff in a P3-C on two engines as piloted by a Lockheed test pilot.
It was not a very vertical take off to say the least. I felt very confident about the pilots request to the tower until it became apparent the pilot meant two engines on one wing. Memorable but uneventful!
BTW Welcome Orion!!!
Some of us tend to ramble here

Orion

G'day, mate, welcome to TFL.

Your story of the 10/22 reminds me of the chap who proudly displayed a "family heirloom" -- his Grandfather's axe.

"Dad put a new head on it, and I replaced the handle, but other than that -- she's original!" :D

HankL, I hope you realize the fortune that you have had in your life. Sure, both operational engines were on one wing, but hey! You got to fly in one!! :)

Bruce, I've read your post about your probs in Australia. My condolences. Anyway, LOL about the axe story. Come to think of it, you're not far off from the truth. I DID replace more parts that what are still original on it. Does that mean that I no longer have a Ruger??? :)
