My two stock responses.......Revised to Three

I am a student of the handgun, especially the revolver, a shooter and a handloader. People who know me any length of time usually ask me one or more questions. The first is "Are you a gun collector?" and the second is "Can you load as good of cartridges as you can buy?", and the third "Do you save a lot of money reloading?"

To the first my response is "No, I'm not a collector, I'm an accumulator."

As to the quality of my reloads, "I can't reload better ammunition than I can buy, but neither can I buy better ammunition than I can reload."

As to saving money: "No, but I shoot a whole lot more for the same amount of money."

I cannot begin to guess how many times I've used these answers.

That's three stock responses Bob... you have exceeded your limit and will be required to take remedial math. :D

Good on ya',

There are three kinds of people in this world. Those that can count and those that can't.

Just kidding. Good answers, Bob.

There are 10 types of people in this world. Those that understand binary, and those who do not.

Anyway, those sound very similar to my responses with one exception. I admit to being a collector and proceed to inquire what they may have to sell or donate to my "firearm museum". Sorry, it's not tax deductible, but I will buy you a beer.

Hopefully, you get some people started in reloading with your answers. I've upgraded from my LEE single stage by selling it to someone who just wanted to see how I do it.

Load a man a cartridge and he can shoot for a day; Teach him how to load and........ well, you know the rest!

Well, you see it was this way.......

I started out with the two questions, hence the title of my thread, but as I was typing my entry, my fertile mind remembered the third. And my feeble mind forget the title.

You are forgiven for the, all too common and sadly uncontrollable, fertile/feeble mind syndrome.
Your enrollment in remedial math has been postponed pending further examination. There are those in greater need than you, and I, ah... forget the other reasons.

I'm not sure about that, Bob. Maybe a handloader can better the commercial offering or not.

But I will add a fourth (or perhaps substitute this for the second) for my personal collection of answers:

Maybe I can't reload better ammunition than I can buy, but I can load DIFFERENT ammunition than I can buy, tailored for my specific firearm and for my specific purpose.

Thanks for sharing and giving me the opportunity to share.

I don't believe my ammunition is any better than commercial, but, as you say, it is tailored to my gun and usage.

But factory ammunition is produced under the most controlled conditions and with extreme quality control, with random testing that I am not able to perform.
