I truly enjoy the freedoms that this County has for over 200 years fought to protect. The greatest among those freedoms is the freedom of speech. It is by the freedom of speech that I may openly critisize my oppenants and my politicans.

How is that freedom of speech is so precious to so many, but the ability to maintain or even protect free speech is not even given a consideration?

Should there be no guns in the hands of citizens, then those in power will have no fear to suppress other rights and freedoms. For instance, if a politician decided that there should be no books or stories or movies concerning abortion. And the law was made that none of the above could have anything concerning abortion in it. (I am not here to debate abortion but I figured it would get my point across)

Then any written or physical discussion of abortion pro or con would be outlawed. The government could expand abortions or make them illegal and no one could voice an opinion. The government could say that married couples could only have 2 children and that if the female became pregnant with her third child, the law required that child to be aborted. With my above facts, no one could complain about that law because the mere fact of complaining would be against the law.

What if the government decided that only those with college degrees could have children. And all others would be required to have abortions. What if the government decided that only whites could have children and the rest of the minorities would be required to have abortions. What if only blacks could have children and all others would have to have abortions?

There would be no ability to complain or express concerns. Even the political arena would be prevented from voicing opinions for violation of the NO ABORTION DISCUSSION law.

What happens when someone in government decides that well abortion is okay but it is preventing an after the fact. So in order to prevent abortions, those men and women of undesireable traits will be sterilized.

Does this sound like America? Well, without guns in the citizens hands to protect freedom of speech, I believe it could happen here and is going to happen here. Maybe not so drastic at first, but mark my words, it will be coming.

For the liberals and democrats and republicans alike, all want to think they are helping and by helping and preventing pregnancies (in this hypo) they are stopping abortions.

This is the same sceen we are seeing with guns. In order to prevent firearms deaths and crime, we are removing the firearms. The reason behind removing them is unimportant because we are preventing crimes and death. Those opposed to taking firearms from society are therefore pro-crime and pro-death.

IF you voice your opinions today that you believe firearms should not be banned or restricted ownership to law abiding citizens, then you are labeled as wanting more crime and more death.

Here is the public logic of the gun grabbers 1. In order to prevent crime guns must be banned. 2. In order to prevent children access to firearsm, guns must be banned. 3. In order to protect the masses from themselves, guns must be banned. 4. In order to promote piece among the peoples of the world and the United States, guns must be banned.

Ask yourself why guns must be banned, it is for one reason and one reason only. Control. Those in control want to stay in control and prevent the masses from revolting or arguing with the Controllers programs and policies that the Controllers are wanting to force on the American People.

Ask yourself this question, if the key to preventing drug abuse by our nations young people is EDUCATION? If the key to preventing communicable diseases in America is through EDUCATION. If the key to preventing racial tensions in America is through EDUCATION? IF the key to stopping AIDS in America is through EDUCATION.

THEN WHY IS NOT THE KEY TO STOPPING CRIME IN AMERICAN EDUCATION????????

The answer is: stopping crime is NOT the reason behind the gun grabbers. IF IT WERE THE REASON then educating the American people on the proper use of firearms would be the answer. Educating young people on the values of respecting other peoples lives, property and family would be the answer.

Educating young people on the dangers of playing with firearms would be the answer.

Educating the masses on the dangers of gangs and needless violence would be the answer.

NO THAT IS NOT THE REASON BEHIND THE GUN GRABBERS. THE ONLY REASON IS CONTROL.

I am disgusted with the American people. They have become lazy and complacent in their abilities. The American people would rather be lead to the slaughter house by those in power, than have to use their brains. That is another problem, we have let the government teach our children for so long, that we no longer have free thinking people. We have a society who is programmed to believe the government and to tolerate and accept everyone.

WE NEED TO WAKE UP, those of us that have the ability to see through the smoke screens and tell everyone that Freedom if leaving fast. And that unless you want to protect your speech, religious, and association rights, you better protect your 2nd Amendment rights.

For what is freedom, if there is no ability to protect it? Freedom becomes a fiction, nothing more than a dream, with no ability to regain it.

There has never been a law, that established freedom. Freedom is God given. There have been laws that restrict or abolish freedom and once they are in place, God help us all.

Judge,
I believe much of what you say. However, I believe the zenith of American apathy occured

Judge: I can only echo your comments. If half of the guys that I see at the Gun Club spent even 2 minutes a day thinking about how their feedoms have been taken away, things would change. The key question, however, is how can we help these people see that they rhemselves are the key to keeping America free? I don't have the answer.

" That the right to keep and bear arms was second among the ten Amendments to the Constitution known as the Bill of Rights indicates the importance with which it was regarded by the Founding Fathers. An importance which Supreme Court Justice Joseph Story explained in 1833: ' The right of the citizen to keep and bear arms has justly been considered the palladium of the liberties of a republic; since it offers a strong moral check against the usurpation and arbitrary powers of rulers; and will generally, even if these are successful in the first instance, enable the people to resist and triumph over them.'"....JBS Bulletin for May, 1974.

Nikita Khrushchev predicted confidently in a speech in Bucharest, Rumania on June 19, 1962 that: " The United States will eventually fly the Communist Red Flag...the American people will hoist it themselves."

I could not debate a word spoken here. Could not agree more with all that has been said . America had better wake up fore the America we all once knew is fading in the past. And if I might add quite rapidly.

Well, Judge, you're right on the mark.

Here in my little podunk town of Ottumwa, Iowa, the local DARE Program has taken it upon themselves to hold seminars in the HHigh School. The topic: Meth.. So, this Law Enforcement Officer  gathers up all the little children, and proceeds to show them how to manufacture METH! As I understand it, one small component is left out of the process. I think my niece told me the component was Anhydrous Ammonia, soemthing very common around here.

Now, several months later, there's portable labs being found all over the place around here. In the dumpsters at the school even. Around Day Care Centers, by churches, anywhere you can imagine. All since the EDUCAION came to town..
And so much for DARE to keep kids of Drugs, and VIOLENCE. The program is self perpetuating.

I no longer have respect for the LEO in my area. I feel that if they can't see what the hell they just did, then their f()%^ing idiots!! I know, he's just doing what he's being told to do.

What next, come after my legally obtained and legally stored firearm? (S)He'd only be doing his/her job then too, wouldn't (s)he?

Best Regards,
Don

The most foolish mistake we could make would be to allow the subjected people to carry arms; history shows that all conquerers who have allowed their subjected people to carry arms have prepared their own fall.

HERE COME DA JUDGE, HERE COME DA JUDGE. Using the educational argument one could blame some of the complacency on the current state of our educational system. Certainly, the "dummying down" of the system hasn't helped. One could almost cry out that it was planned. There is no longer required study of the constitution in the 8th grade. In my time, you had to pass the test or you stayed in grade school. They even made us memorize the preamble! Keep up the good work Judge!

Nothing to add. Judge, you articulate everyone's un-formed thoughts quite succinctly.

Please post more often!

Yes,I agree with all you say.I am concerned
we are becoming what I believe happened to
the Jewish people prior and during WW11.
Let me explain by saying our "will to
fight" is gone, we wish to be victims and
therefore somehow that makes us good. As
a senior citizen I have watched us go
from a honest, moral, working people to
the present day sheep mentality of blame
everyone but me and please let the government
take care of my children via the schools,
day care, etc.Now we are paying, not only
in money, but our freedom, our way of life.
I feel there are good people out there but
I believe the scale to be tipping in the
wrong direction. At present we must become
more political and hope it isnt too late.

More and more people are waking up to what is going on in Amerika.

For instance there are over 800 Internet sites dealing with the illegality of the Federal Income Tax and how judges refuse to
uphold the tax law as it is written. I guess they are afraid of the IRS, too. This is part of the problem.

I file a zero income tax return (Irwin Schiff's method) with no problems.

It is my way (and thousands of others, too) of peacefully protesting this tyranical government and it's unconstitutional tax system.

But tomorrow it may be the cartridge box when they come for the weapons as the Million Moron Moms want.

Dear leadfoot,
Where and how can I find out more about the Irwin Schiff Method of filing a zero
income tax return?

Please email me at larrysdiscountguns@erols.com

or post the info here.

I couldn't agree more. It appears that honor, courage, candor, competence, sacrifice, and unity have been replaced by the me ethic. Now is the time to invade America because as a nation, these values are lacking.
When I got out of the Army, I was unable to use my TV for several months. In that time, I read a LOT. Not only did I read, but I wasn't exposed to madison ave. each night for four hours. If you want to see how much TV affects your perception of life, then get rid of it for a few months. Substitute TV for radio or newspapers. This is the only way you'll ever notice how much you're affected. I was shocked! I now spend time with my wife almost nightly talking about politics, or how her day went, or the chickens, or anything. It is truly remarkable how much the marriage improved, and what a positive difference it made not having the TV. When I finally got the tube back, we decided not to get cable/satalite/ or normal reception. We only use the TV to rent movies on, and only occasionally. Now we have an 8 month old son, and since there isn't anything taking up my time, I get to see just how incredible kids are. I would've never noticed if I had been glued to the Television. Each day he adds a little more to his abilities, and is unbelievable curious. It takes all my time to keep up with him. Another thing I notice is that he is much better behaved than most kids. He gets 'round the clock attention, and so he isn't whiny, or loud. Total strangers comment on how easy he seems to be, or how happy he is. It isn't hard to figure out what the secret is. The secret ingredient to great kids is TIME. Everyone loves their kids, but does everyone devote the time to them? Even a lot of parents who stay home with them are spending most of the day watching TV or doing housework and giving the kid a video to watch to occupy his time. It is truly pathetic, and we are now paying the price for our neglect.
Hillary wants us to believe that it takes a "village" (ie: United States Government), but in reality it takes just one totally committed person to the welfare of that child. Institutionalized neglect is obvious everywhere. We place kids in "day care" centers and expect them to do well. The studies all point out the critical importance of "Socialization", and so we feel comforted that our children are recieving socialization. Nope. The socialization a child needs is that given by a parent (or adult). A five year old doesn't need any help to act like a five year old. He already is a five year old. Being around other five year olds doesn't make the five year old act any closer to six. The kids grow older together, but they don't grow up. A five year old who spends all day with mommy, or daddy who devotes their time to the five year old will naturally adjust to a much higher standard of behavior, and self-discipline.
America is on the decline, and that truly upsets me more than anything because I love more than life itself what this country gave to mankind: LIBERTY. Most high schoolers don't even know how to define the word. This nation was the first nation on earth that recognized the supreme rights of the individual. The only thing that made it work for so long is that while people had the freedom to destroy their lives, they didn't because they had the obligation to family not to contribute to a bad name. This country has drifted away from the virtues that set it on a pedestal, and now is a nation that seeks to identify with the rest of the "civilized" nations of Europe. Just think about that when the anti's tell you that "most of Europe bans guns".
Along with everything I hold dear being destroyed in this country by apathy, I have been hounded by the government to support the lazy, and the unmotivated. I am robbed by threat of violence or incarceration to support things I find repugnant.
I don't hold much hope for a restoration because the institution that would fight that fight is decaying before our eyes: Family.
Judge Blackhawk, you have made great points in your post, but it isn't really any suprise because you're a TEXAN!!!

GOD BLESS to you KJM; hope there is more
out there like you. Perhaps we will survive,
however it takes sacrifice and sad to say
many today don't want to give that time to
their children.

Far too many Americans don't understand this part of your post:

"There has never been a law, that established freedom. Freedom is God given. There have been laws that restrict or abolish freedom and once they are in place, God help us all."

Many Americans confuse "rights" with "entitlements". Our rights are freedoms FROM government control, as opposed to entitlements TO government assistance. We don't have a RIGHT to "affordable housing" or "free healthcare". The government has absolute control over entitlements.

I would be curious to know what percentage of the American public really believe that the Second Amendment is an important safeguard against government tyranny.

(I am in this group and so are many TFL'ers)

I think the majority of people believe that it "can't happen here" and that a fear of government power is paranoia.

I also wonder what percentage of Americans truly want to disarm the general population in order to have more power over them.

I think the majority of anti-gun folks are well-meaning but misguided. These are the hearts and minds we must change.

MountainGun, I would estimate that less than 10% of the population knows that the 2nd is all about, at best.

NRA? Good. Now joing the GOA!

I'm with you, Judge. And I think you had a good point in a previous post: just talk to your kids person to person; tell them what you think and listen to what they think.

That's the most important way to educate about topics like this. To be told something like "leave it alone" will only increase a child's curiosity. You have to get them to the point where they feel they know about the thing and that it's better to leave it alone.
