I've owned this since the mid-70's I've the second owner I didn't get the box, papers or tools I guess it wasn't that important back then. Its been shot very little and with the stock grips and most .357 it lets your hand know it, I added these to help that out. Its become my RV gun when we travel loaded with federal 38 special hydra-shoks. Been seeing a few post on Smith 19's so figured I;d share mine.
Oh the holster is there for picture its very seldom carried or in it, nice soft pistol rug.

A real beauty TomADC.

I live in California too. If by some rare chance, you have a hankerin' to part company with it, let me know ;)

We're both in Ca, so it could be done. But it's neither here nor there. You said it's a keeper; which comes as no surprise to me.

That thing hits all the checkmarks.

I bought a 2.5" M19 new around 1980. I guess it would have been a 19-4, I don't recall. Sold it within a year to fund a weekend vacation with a girlfriend. We parted a few months later (thank God) but the gun was gone forever. Lesson learned.

In 1989 I was at a show a couple hundred miles out of town (happened to be in town on other business) and saw a nickel 19-3 on a table. Offered by an older gentleman, he said he was a retired federal agent and this had been his service weapon for 19 years. Honestly, I sort of doubted his story, but the gun was cool. He wanted $185 for it. I had $180 in cash on me. He wouldn't budge on the $5 difference. Finally offered to let me take the gun if I promised to mail him the $5. Gave me his address. I mailed him a check.

Later I lettered the revolver and what do you know? Shipped in 1970 to the Customs and Immigration Service. I learned that the 2.5" M19 in nickel was used by numerous federal agencies during that time period.
