A friend of mine told me that Ruger had a problem with some Ruger pistols . He said that they will fix it . I have a Ruger New Model Single Six .22 Caliber . Serial number 261-189XX . He mentioned something about "3 screw" . Is there something that I should know ? Thank you .

I think you are going to have to be more specific on what the problem is or was? a single six is one of the most trouble free 22 revolvers there is in my opinion.

It sounds like your friend may be talking about the free safety upgrade available on the original "three screw" single action Rugers. While all the newer guns have it, the single actions with three screws on the sideplate lacked a transfer bar safety. Ruger will upgrade those guns for free.

If your gun says New Model on it, the upgrade doesn't apply to it.
Don't worry, there's nothing wrong with your gun.
There wasn't anything wrong with the Three Screw guns, they just didn't have the current lockwork with the transfer bar "safety".
