My Right To Own Firearms

so i recently got my pistol license in Suffolk county, NY. i got 2 pistols and had to get the "purchase" docs to go get the pistols.

on the "purchase" doc it says that no seller can sell, or give any pistol to any person who does not posess a purchase doc.

under the 2nd Amendment (being a eligible citizen to own such, not a criminal, etc, etc), whether i have a pistol license or not, i have the right to purchase any firearm, not posess, but buy and own,..... no??

The wonders of New York State. I believe the verbiage refers to the fact that the FFL cannot turn over a firearm to anyone unless he has the docs. I assume it applies only to dealings in NYS. Heck, you need a permit to touch a pistol here in Rockland. Westchester wants you to buy a pistol before you get a license. Go figure. The insanity varies from county to county!

Why don't you people elect representatives that respect your rights? I am for permits to carry firearms in public but you people up there require a permit just to have one in your home! Are the cops parked outside your house 24 hours a day? Do you think criminals in New York care about laws about firearms? Stop voting for people that don't care if a criminal comes in your home and rapes your wife and kills you.

The 2nd Ammendment covers everyone! I am tired of hearing about these states that trample on it. I will keep my tourist dollars out of New York as long as they act this way. I know if I have a problem like this

The law is on my side! I've heard that permits are only for the rich and powerful in New York. The middle class pays more taxes as a group than all of the "rich" combined.

The Bill of Rights puts restrictions on the power of the Federal Government. Meaning that, by a strict intermretation, the Feds can't pass any law barring the possession of bearing of arms. This puts no restriction against the States themselves...

in reality, its easier to be a criminal here in NY than it is to be a law abiding citizen, hence the reason why all of criminals have guns while we law abiding citizens have to jump through hoops just to get a well restricted pistol permit!! not all on NY is as bad as the county i live in.......

i find this silly "purchase" doc verbiage to be, well, stupid.

but going back to my original post, does everyone agree??

Because people like them have legislative districts that look like this:

The politicians select their voters, the voters don't select the politicians, and when politicians are selecting voters, respecting rights is the very least of their concerns.

The federales are selective about how they enforce the BoR. Some amendments are interpreted as guaranteed by the Federal government and others are merely not to be infringed by the federal government itself. Unfortunately, the second seems to fall into the latter category.
