My plan for CC training this year

I decided to take the class for CC here in Ohio this year. I wasn't sure how my wife was going to take that idea! She is really supportive of my hunting and shooting pastime and even goes to the range with my 22lr pistol sometimes. But this was a toss up in my opinion if she would understand and support it. Man was I surprised when she listened then suggested we take the class together! Is that great or what?

Now I need to convince her we each need a new CC gun!!!

Joe;)

Glad she's amenable to the idea.

Just a thought...Unless you don't already have handguns that can serve as your CC weapons, I would suggest that you follow your CC course with a formal defensive/combat pistol course. Quality training from a professional instructor is of much greater value than another toy in the safe.

Life can be good with the right partner!

Going shopping for a new gun(s) probably won't be too much of a problem, since my collection to date doesn't really include anything concealable except for two heirloom 32 ACP pistols. While we could carry those and one of them would be definitely ok for CC I would rather have a modern gun of a bigger caliber for self defense situations- either a 9mm or a small revolver 38/357 since I already reload for both calibers. She will develop her own preferences I am sure.

This could get to be an expensive plan!:p

+1:) Regardless of if the guns are already in hand so to speak, get more education. The basic classes are a bare minimum. You wouldn't want you dr having minimum instruction would you? ;)

UPDATE CC Training

We completed our Ohio CC training course yesterday. It was a full 12 hr. course with 35 in the class so we broke up the range practice to two different groups. 3 instructors at the range so we had plenty of personal instruction on drills, multiple targets, and even one firing at multiple targets while moving.

Both my wife and I learned a lot and plan to take the advanced course later this year. I will definitely apply for the CC permit, she is undecided. But she says it was good for her growing familiarity with and confidence in her ability to use the pistol, so that was worth it.

Now to do some gun shopping. I used the instructor's snub 38 S&W for most of the day, then used my 32 ACP pistol. The 38 was small in my big hands especially the grip, a basic wooden factory type. Pachmyer grips would improve it I am sure but would add a lot of bulk to a concealable gun I would think.

You'll both get more out of the class than people by themselves. Why? I couldn't tell you, but I've seen it in more than a few classes: husbands and wives, fathers and children, mothers and children, and boy friends and girl friends tend to pay closer attention, ask more questions, try harder, and leave with more knowledge and enthusiasm.

More power to both of you!

this weekend

My wife and I (been married 37 going on 38 years) will be taking our C & C class this weekend. We live smack in the middle of Kansas but will drive west 3 1/2 hours to take the class with some other friends so both couples can have some fun. Friday spent setting up the range where will we practice and shoot for the class, take the class on Saturday and some fine food and fellowship in between. Now that is a weekend!

congrats!

my wife recently said she wants to take the class and get her permit. her next questions was "so when can i start looking at a new carry weapon?"

she keeps it up she will have more than i have in my name
