My parts box.........

This is my parts box for gun parts:

I made it about eight years ago for parts storage. How many of ya'll have a special box for keeping gun parts in, such as leftover parts from guns you've owned in the past, or off your current guns?

Comes in handy, such as for the Hy Hunter project.

That is a great looking parts box. I've got several shoe boxes for small parts and shotgun barrel boxes for larger parts. Nice work. So.... what do you have inside it? :D

Yes, but mine are not that sophisticated..../ and don't look that good...

I use heavy-durable plastic storage bins, with lids, ----each one is marked:

a. "Shotgun parts" (extra choke tubes, Hi Viz beads, extra trigger shoes, etc)

b. "1911's" (springs, grips, conversion kits, manuals, whatever )

c. " S&W Revolvers" (specialty tools, extra grips, manuals, etc )

d. " Sig Sauer " ( springs, conversion kits, manuals, etc )

e. "All Other Guns" ( stray guns like a Buckmark, High Standards, lever action rifles, stuff I don't have a lot of ).....

f. "Holsters" ...(ones I don't use / which is a pretty big box ...:o )...

g. Cleaning Stuff...( extra patches, extra solvents, etc )....

and they have a shelf - where I stack them up and out of the way....in a corner of my shop...

and I have a "shooting box" ....that goes with me to the range...with stuff that I might need when I'm 30 or more miles from home....extra choke tubes, cleaning kit, extra glasses, extra ear plugs, extra gloves, screw driver set, etc..../ it lives permanently on a shelf in the garage - and gets thrown into the SUV - along with shells, etc...every time I go to range.

Bought several 250 - 300 count humidors until I got the 1500 count end table model and a monstrous Coleman "coolerdor" for my SHTF Stogie Stash. So I use the smaller ones for gun parts and other stuff. Dividers, dry and durable; work great.

And, before anyone critiques the size of my inventory remember, I only smoke one at a time.....

At times I've had spare barrels for a Model 29 S&W and Ruger Blackhawks. A hammer for a three-screw Super Blackhawk, ejector rod housings (alas, aluminum), ejector rods, grip frames for Rugers (aluminum and steel), assorted springs and screws. Trigger for three screw and New Model Rugers, a transfer bar, a couple of rear sights, and some unidentified parts.

At times I've accumulated enough parts to justify buying the gun for them.

I did have a pretty good stock of Colt Government Model parts and/or M1911 parts, but sold/traded most of these off over the years.

Just like Rob228 I'm curious about it contents.

I've got a mind's eye picture of it tilted forward, the lid up and all rare and valuable parts inside glittering and shining like some pirate's treasure chest. Nickel plated parts, stainless steel parts, deep blued parts, rare .45 Colt barrels, S&W cylinders, bone and ivory grips, maybe some Luger parts, or Webley-Fosbery parts...

But I do tend to over think things a lot.

Like Dale, when he said spare parts, for some reason, full auto sears leapt to the forefront of my minds eye.

My spare parts box is actually a bag I got from Golf Magazine that can double as a cooler in a pinch.

Bob, you've taken our common scrounge box to another level.

Better than puttin lipstick on a pig, for sure...... :p

.

My spare parts box is a fishing tackle box, the ones with the trays attached to the lid that lift up when you open the box.

That's a mighty nice looking parts box, and impressive, since you made it yourself.
I made a couple from derelict pieces of wood laying around.
While they weren't as good looking as yours, they did the job.
But they were too heavy and I've switched to a store bought plastic tool box with drawers and dividers.
Not as cool, but it also does the job nicely, and is easier to tote around.

My parts boxes:
Four drawers under bed, two shelves in closet, top drawer of clothes dresser,
Two drawers under work bench, bolt boxes on top of work bench, shelf under computer desk.

Also I'm reloading right now on the kitchen table ;)

A room in my basement I built for my gun stuff ;-)

that's a really nice box you made, looks simillar to the box I have for my cleaning gear. any chance we could get a picture of the box open?

My reloading operation and spare parts storage was recently moved from my big sister's desk to the basement when she moved home to tele-communte.

I can't wait for her to get married.
