In a total disgrace for my city (Fort Wayne, Indiana), our former mayor, Paul Helmke will become the Brady Campain's president July first. In the paper he uses the usual (criminals outgunning police and "common sense" and sporting arms wont be affected) rhetoric. Good thing he lost to Souder in the congressional race a few terms back. I hope this doesnt signal any kind of shift in my state's gun-rights-friendly opperation. By the way, before the "Damned Liberal" brain-deadism starts, hes a Republican.

I travel through Ft. Wayne several times a year and am not surprised an as like this would be mayor. Would I be coorect is assuming his mayoritly was assured by populations living in the South South East regions of Ft. Wayne?

No offense, but Ft. Wayne has never really struck me as conservative. From my perspective, it is more working Democrat than anything. Kind of like Terra Haute - a lot of legacy Democrats. Conservative by liberal standards for sure, but not really conservative when it comes to government scope, etc.

None taken, Im pretty centrist with a focus on humanitarianism (which leans me left a bit in my mind).

Im not sure, he was pretty popular though, three terms. However, my working class blue collar relatives hated him.

Fort Wayne has its own "good ol' boys club" of local restaurant owners. and Cork n' Cleaver happens to be one of their favorite spot. I've gone in for my 6 o'clock reservation and had to two hours because they decided to show up and take over the one dining area. All of them cheat on their wives, impregnate 18 year old high school girls and cook the books (these are just the three i know personally). But the restraunts they run are SO good.
