A shame Colt kinda dropped the ball on that one (my opinion). It always looked "unfinished" and rushed into production with the plastic extenstion grip covering the DA mechanism and the unstylish (for the early 1990s) fingerhook.

Actually, it's a DA/SA trigger system with decocker, if I remember correctly; but a good question. ;)

Yes, the Double Eagle is an interesting find...actually my father picked it up for me and he is a COLT NUT...basically he said if you dont want it, I do. Well after some reading up on it, I really am intrigued...Why wasnt it more popular, was it poor marketing, bad design, too cool for its time?

I guess it is a moot point, as I like the look and the DA/SA feature.
Thanks for the support and when I pick it up from dad's house next month, I'll let you know how it shoots...

Congrat, I have had and carried for 10 years mine, it isn't a pretty as yours now. The Only thing that got to me was lack of holsters selections for it. I ended up getting a custom kydex holster made for it. Enjoy a great pistol.

Tony, do you carry yours daily in a ccw fashion?
I was toying with holsters and found a crossbread holster for it, but man its a heavy gun....which isnt all bad though

I owned two of them back in Colorado. One for me, and one for my wife. Make sure you shoot it and find ammo it likes before carrying it for self defense. They seemed to be real picky about ammo back in those days at least! Also keep the double action, activation bar that runs under the grip clean and free of debris...
