Here is my new mossberg 500 zombie killer. I installed a Mako folding collapsable stock and a mossberg heatshield. What do you think?

Mossberg has signed a no contention pact with the International Zombie Assoc. that has rendered all Mossbergs ineffective against Zombies and all Mossberg execs exempt from zombie attack. Sorry dude. Looks like it'd take out a burglar pretty efficiently though.:D

thats one of my next mods is to change the location of the safety. The safety design is great if you have a regular stock but hard to get to with the pistol grip.

it works nice. It has a spring loaded pin that keeps it locked in either position. It can also be rotated so thee stock will fold to the left or right. It is really solid construction. Made from solid aluminum.

Yeah, that heat shield is great. It's good for.... for...... for........

Well, at least the rattling has to be useful for something. And the extra weight.

Don't get me wrong, I once put one on a Mossberg too (because it came in the combo pack). Didn't take long for me to decide it wasn't worth a darn.

Well, I think if you were shooting a lot of rounds, then transitioning to a sidearm or using the shotgun as a melee weapon you might disagree that it has no function at all. Considering weight and bulk I wouldn't personally find it worth while, but it isn't a bayonet on a glock flashlight rail.

I assure you I've shot my share of rounds and kicked in more doors than all of the Counterstrike Commandos on here (although our shotguns are 14" Remingtons not Mossbergs). I have little doubt that I've shot more rounds in a week than most have in a lifetime. That's just luck on my part. I don't have to pay for the ammo. That includes shooting lots of 12 gauge. I've never needed a barrel shroud.

I love Mossberg, but just like those stupid feaux Barrett muzzlebrakes, they sell some things just to pry the cash from the mall ninja crowd.

Its definitly just for tacticool appearance. I like some form and some function. Its just like putting rims on your car. Just adds some style. :)

Nice shotgun.

I made the mistake of taking of the heat shield once.... SURE am glad I reinstalled it.....any else try to melt a heavy barrel 590 regularly..........

If I recall the heat shield was originally for trench raiding guns with affixed bayonets, where the oder of battle includes slam-firing 6 rounds and then gripping the barrel with a view to jerry-gutting. I can see some hand protection being useful there, but in all other circumstances it just adds weight.

That said, I do want to shoot a round of clays with an M1897 with bayonet attached. Who knows, it might improve the swing.

Well, i believe that a Shotgun is a bit... Overkill for zombies...
.22 bullets right in to the head is the best option :D

But for home defense it seems do to a fine work...
And with that stock it can be used for CQB...

Only if that stocks and defense where legal here...

I've got a Mossberg 500 with a Knox tactical stock. It's pretty nice. I don't think I'd throw a heat shield on a shotgun that is pump action.

Thing is over the course of a week the barrel cools a bit.
You fire rapidly and that heat shield is a blessing. I don't have one on a shotgun and don't have a shotgun it would really be useful on, but I have one on a rifle and it is nice at times.
