Its a beauty!! The range today would NOT let me shoot it. It was over the 2000 FPS that thr range was 'rated' at. what BS lol..

From the pic it looks like a 24 inch barrel, what one did you get? :)
I've been eyeing those myself after getting a Marlin varmit in that caliber.
They're a tack driver for sure but try shooting one on a windy day. I did and could predict a couple inch drift at 100 yards from the little 17 grain bullet.
I shot a groung hog in the head with mine at around 30 yards in the head. I won't post the pic I took as it's pretty graffic but he didn't take a step.

ammo coming down in price?

It is still $9.99 (or the equivelent, Wal-Mart 9.88) at most retailers. The best price I have found is at Mid South Shooters supply $7.84 but then there is shipping. One local shop has it for $8.99. I can get .38 special for less than that but it is fun to shoot. I really like those Taurus' also but would consider the Ruger to also have a Mach 2 cylinder.

yea I know what you mean bass. I think I'm gonna take a trip to Cabelas and get a big ol box o bulk ammo.. Lot cheaper ..

Nice gun, stick with it. While I love Rugers, I also enjoy Taurus'. I love the 17HMR and was enthusied to say the least when I heard about the 17 Mach2. But the 17 mach 2 hasn't been performing well in pistols, I am not so sure I would bet my purchase on the ability to shoot it in a pistol. I have been waiting for the Mark III to come out, but it is being held up with issues regarding the 17 Mach 2. And to my knowledge the 17HMR / 17 Mach2 is not currently availible for the single six either. You may see it in the books, but my distributors are not showing it availible for purchase. I would point out that while a .38 might be in the same price range, it doesn't shoot flat like the 17hmr does, nor does it act the same upon impact. While that offhand target looks good, you can easily shoot a ragged hole if you sit down and take your time. Good luck with it.. and on the 17 mach 2 discussion, I am currently building a 10/22 with the clark 17 mach 2 conversion.. we shall see how it shoots..

Thanks for the kind words.. Im going shooting this weekend with it and Im gonna try to hold the barrel stable with my weak hand to stablize it.. It is pretty heavy, 50 oz.. Ill bet Ill shoot even better this way. I can hold it VERY still this way.. Its kinda weird looking but it works.. (I think)
