My New Sig-Sauer P220

Finally found the Sig-Sauer pistol I have been searching for. I found it over at Guns America.com

I just bought over the telephone a Sig-Sauer P220 Euro with the heel mag release in .45ACP. Date code is JC which is 1983.

Comes with three factory mags, original cardboard box, manual and test target. All for only $449.00

I see alot of these offered in 9mm, but the Euro model in .45ACP is somewhat scarcer.

Can't wait to get it home.

Got some of the Browning BDA's

45 and 38 Super and also the 9 mm bbl so I can convert the Super. I like these old ones better than the new "American" version. My Super has over 15000 rounds through it and is still the most accurate auto I have ever had.

Great Find-

and I'm sure you will enjoy your new purchase very much;
however, I tend to favor the "American" version cuz of the
magazine release buttons location. Mine also has the "green"
color coded recoil spring; in order to withstand higher pressure
load's.

Herr Walther,

Glad to hear things are getting back to normal for you and you're back up and buying guns!

I love my P220 and I think you will too. Unfortunately, I puchased mine about 4 years ago just after Sig made a few changes to the gun. My biggest complaint was the new grips. Slick as snot if you asked me. I went to Hogues, but wished that the gun would have fit the older checkered style, like yours. Other than that, my Sig has run like a clock.

FYI, CDNN has a special on Sig Factory Walnut grips for the 220. $39 vs. $79 retail. They are all out of the american style, but had the eruo grips as of last tuesday!

Nice indeed.
Some can't stand the heel mag release. Works fine for me and just seems proper on some guns.

Thanks. I have them bookmarked. I'll stop in there before the nights over. Tony probably wonders why I haven't called to order anything in 6 months. Last thing I ordered was the bipod for my H&K rifle.

I've very comfortable using the heel mag release. I learned to be very proficient changing mags on my Walther P5. It shouldn't be too hard to transition to the P220 with some diligent practice.

Red, your right about those new Sig grips. They ARE slicker'n snot!
I'm glad my new P220 doesn't have them. My P225 doesn't have them either. I've got new Nill grips from Germany on the way for the P225. They should be here tomorrow or Monday. They are the same company that made the grips for my Walther P88 and P5. I hope they look as good as those.

I'm curious about the Sig factory grips at CDNN. I wonder who makes those for Sig?

Only one thing I find frustrating with German arms manufacturers and that is is that they are always trying to Americanize their products so we'll buy more.

I like them just the way they are originally designed, thank you very much.

The 220 45 ACP I owned was the most accurate out of the box semi-auto centerfire pistol I have ever owned - often regret trading it - will probably have to get one again someday!
