There's real and artificial sinew, real sinew is made from a tendon.

Artificial Sinew

Deer sinew has been used for centuries as a thread or string to construct tools, weapons, clothing, games, and anything that required binding. Actual deer sinew is not uniform in size, expensive, is only available in short lengths, and hard to find. Artificial sinew, on the other hand, is usually a polyester fiber that has been waxed to give it the look, strength, and workability of actual sinew.

Well it says braided sinew on the label. The other stuff from Tandy says artificial sinew. I kinda just assumed (you know what that means) that it is fake. I did quadruple stitch it two ways with a continuous line (as well as using glue) so it should stay together. We'll see.
