This was my brothers gun since 1987, having purchased it at a gun show for $425. He had one in 4", 6"(now mine), and 8" barrels. All of them nickel. I can remember him laying them out and admiring them with our dad who is a Colt man to the bone (mostly interested in SAA). I lusted after these guns from the first time I laid eyes on them. They were each very special to me even though I did not own them as some great memories were associated with them in my youth. Over the years he got rid of the 4" and 8" through various gun trades.
Fast forward to last Saturday while I was visiting my parents. I brought my AR-15 down to show the old man since I had recently put a carry handle on the rifle. My brother showed up and we started jawing about guns. He mentioned that he would like to have an AR like mine and asked if I wanted to sell it to which I replied "no". He then said the words I never thought I would hear..."How about if I trade you my Python"...
I didn't know what to say. My AR was nice. It was an M4gery Stag upper and lower with LMT barrel and BCG. It was outfitted with a Hogue grip, Magpul handguards, etc. etc. I told him that he could sell the Python and buy 2...maybe 3 AR's with the money from the Colt. He said that he didn't care...he only had $425 in it and I was his brother. Yada Yada Yada...I now own the Python pictured below!
It is in VERY good condition, nearly immaculate! It has been fired which is good as I fully intend on shooting the hell out of it!
From what I have found online it appears to have been made in either '79 or '80. I polished it to a mirror shine with some Johnson's paste wax last night and cannot stop looking at it. It's like I'm 12 years old again!
Elegantly Brutal!!
